The IMSA VP Racing SportsCar Challenge concludes its 2026 season with the final sprint races at Road Atlanta. The event marks the end of the sprint format as the championship transitions fully to an all-endurance race format in 2027. Road Atlanta is a challenging, undulating road course that has been a mainstay of North American road racing since opening on September 13, 1970. The 12-turn track features the famous esses between turns three and five and a downhill, diving Turn 12. After a period of decline in the 1990s, the circuit was restored to its prominent position in American sports car racing when entrepreneur Don Panoz acquired it in December 1996.
