MXGP of South Africa
The MXGP returns to South Africa's Terra Topia MX Track on the north-western edge of Johannesburg for the first time in 18 years. This marks only the sixth Motocross Grand Prix held in the country and the fourth host venue. The elevation running nearly 1800 metres presents a distinct challenge - thin air limits engine power and increases physical stress for both riders and machinery. The track surface is slightly softer than recent circuits, and without support classes to break up the ground, it should provide fast and spectacular racing for the MXGP elite. The event represents the eleventh of 19 scheduled rounds in the 2026 season. Johannesburg falls during a key phase of the championship - the South African round is anticipated to play an important role in the title fight. The country's Grand Prix heritage stretches back to 1985 when Jacky Vimond won a 250cc event at Corobrik near Johannesburg, and the series later visited Sun City from 2004 to 2006.
