Townsville has been a permanent fixture on the Supercars Championship calendar since its debut in 2009, making it one of just three venues to have featured every year. The Reid Park Street Circuit is a hybrid design with approximately 70 percent permanent race track in the park, while the remainder utilizes public roads including Boundary Street and Charters Towers Road. The circuit presents a formidable challenge with a high average speed of 157 km/h and high tyre wear characteristics.
