Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge
Founded in 1991 by Emirati motorsport legend and current FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem, the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge ranks among the world's oldest and most prestigious international cross-country rallies. The event has gained worldwide renown as leading international motorsport competitors attempt to conquer the dunes of the unforgiving Rub'Al Khali Desert, also known as the Empty Quarter, the world's largest sand ocean. Today, competitors regard the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge as one of the most technical races on the calendar. Traditionally held in February following the Dakar, the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge will close the 2026 W2RC season for the first time, serving as the FIA-FIM World Rally-Raid Championship finale from November 22 to 27, 2026. The 35th edition will start and finish in the Al Ain region for the first time in its history.
