The Dakar Rally is the flagship event of the FIA-FIM World Rally-Raid Championship (W2RC). It is an annual cross-country marathon rally featuring multiple vehicle classes for cars, motorcycles, and trucks. The regulations cover various categories: Ultimate and Stock for cars, RallyGP, Rally2 and Rally3 for motorcycles. Since 2020, the rally has been held in Saudi Arabia, traversing desert dunes, rocky terrain and sand with stage lengths of up to 900 kilometres. A typical race weekend consists of a prologue and approximately 12 timed stages over two weeks, including a 48-hour marathon stage with overnight bivouacs without mechanical support. Its distinction lies in the extreme physical and mental demands of prolonged driving, navigation and harsh environmental conditions.
