Gran Premi de Catalunya

Friday, 15 May 2026 · Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, Montmeló · 🇪🇸 Spain

The Gran Premi de Catalunya has been home to motorcycle racing since 1995 at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. With long straights and a variety of corners, the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya is seen as an all-rounder circuit, and is considered to be one of the best designed circuits of the recent era, having won the much coveted IRTA 'Best Grand Prix' trophy for 2001 and has a general admission capacity of 104,000 spectators. Located in Montmeló northeast of Barcelona, the track stands out for its dual purpose - since opening in 1991, it was designed to accommodate both Formula 1 and motorcycle racing. This dual-purpose approach created circuit characteristics that work well for bikes - the combination of high-speed sections, technical corners and an enormously long main straight where MotoGP bikes actually achieve higher speeds than F1 cars.
