Isle of Man TT: Week
The Isle of Man Tourist Trophy has been held on the Isle of Man since 1907, and is considered the oldest, most dangerous and most controversial motorcycle race in the world. The circuit stretches for 60.7 kilometers and riders must navigate the 264 corners of the course on public roads lined with hedges, curbs, lampposts and rock faces. From the narrow village streets to open, wind-swept mountain passes, this course challenges riders to push their machines and themselves to the absolute limit. While the Isle of Man TT was officially part of the motorcycle world championship between 1949 and 1976, it is now held as a standalone event. Since the inaugural running of the Tourist Trophy, approximately 270 motorcycle riders have lost their lives on the TT Mountain Course.
